Waiting for Christ

I Thessalonians 1:9-10 For they themselves shew of us of what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God: And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

This passage speaks of what is called in Titus the blessed hope and glorious appearing, which has the theological term of the rapture. It also speaks of the resurrection. I would like to look at the waiting. We recently got a puppy. My mother in law got it from Animal Rescue but was unable to keep up with her high energy. I have two young sons and they have all the energy in the world. Recently my wife and sons left for some errands and it was just me and the dog. She came to me and whimpered then went to the door. She came back to me and went to the door several times. She finally came and sat with me in the chair but every time she heard a noise outside she ran to the door. Now her favorite is my youngest (or whoever has food in their hand) and she was waiting for her master. A dog called Greyfriars Bobby laid on the grave of his master waiting for his return till his own death. I believe these dogs can give us a lesson on how to wait for the Lord Jesus Christ. As we go about our lives we should have a longing in our hearts for His return. We should look up to the clouds and pray even so come Lord Jesus. Oh and what a reunion my little dog had with her master when they got home! Do you remember the day when you met with Christ and He saved you? Do you remember the sweet days of fellowship as He revealed Himself to you? As you read the Bible and it became God’s love letter to you? Oh all these things make me yearn for the Lord Jesus. As the song says “roll back the curtains of memory now and then, show me what you brought me from and what I could have been”. I hope this has been a blessing. And remember that there is a crown for those who love His appearing.
