Isaiah 30:9-11 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us. The Lord Jesus Christ made it clear that there are but two paths, the broad which leads to destruction and the strait and narrow which leads to life. A good preacher, one who is worth his salt, stands in the way to block traffic from going to hell. He preaches against sin, covetousness, and worldliness. He stands against the spirit of this age and calls for repentance, for people to come to Christ for the forgiveness of sin, and holy living for true happiness. If a preacher stands against booze and dope the upper class says he stands in the way of progress and prosperity. The same if he stands against gambling. Don’t think of children going hungry and domestic violence, or people being taxed off their property. Don’t think of people going to burn forever in hell, give us the pleasure of sin for a season and get out of the way! Don’t preach about a Holy God, preach about one that is happy with our sins. After all God wants us happy, right? Don’t preach against the music and movies that glorify sin and debauchery. You are coarse and blunt, not smooth and silky. Get out of the way. Pulpits are filled with lying smooth lost pastors leading people on their merry way to hell, doing more reading of psychology than Scripture. Time was, if a man didn’t raise his voice to a shout while preaching, he wasn’t preaching. If he didn’t step on someone’s toes he was a compromiser. But now Americans want teachers, they have itching ears. The mega church gives a place to appease the conscience without accountability because no one, especially the pastor knows you. If you want to get right with God Repent. Read the Bible and compare it to your life style and thoughts. Then forsake your ways and conform yourself to His. Stand in the way. If someone asks why you preach where you preach, or why you preach so much on what you preach, chances are that you are exactly in God’s will. GET IN THE WAY!.
