I Timothy 4:1-5 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils: Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. There is a connection between vegetarianism and spirituality. It opens up the soul to receiving unclean spirits. Now sometimes for health reasons or budget or availability or to prevent offence one may not eat meat but when it is forbidden or chosen for spiritual reasons that is a different story. Nowadays many youngsters don’t know about Hitler. For that matter many college students don’t know that the United States fought Great Britian for our Independence. But two significant items about this man and the Nazi movement where it’s connection to the swastika and his vegetarianism. The swastika is a religious symbol from the Hindu and New Age movement. The Hindu of course do not eat meat. This symbol (with the arms facing an opposite direction from the Nazis) is also found in Buddhist and Native Americans worship. Look up the Swastika hotel in New Mexico. But symbols have spiritual power as do diets. Hitler, who treated Jews, Gypsies, and Slavs as less than human was campaigning to end animal slaughter and scientific experimentation. Presently in the United States many people fear eating our plentiful, affordable, and good quality and safe meats. A WTA&M professor said in a newspaper article that many Americans are suffering from malnutrition as a result of refusing to eat meat. The human body must have animal protein! Yet with all the emphasis on animal rights and treating them HUMANLY more and more cruelty, including abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia of the elderly, is becoming more common place in our world. While eating meat won’t make you a Christian, forbidding meat goes opposite of God’s commands, purposes, and plans. A weak brother may eat herbs and is to be received if to no disputation. But God has given you the liberty and defense to eat flesh.
